I have more than 20 years' experience in scholarly nonfiction book publishing, with a specialty in encyclopedias. Enthusiastic about digital publishing from the start, I was involved in some of the first online reference projects at Scribners in the 1990s and later spearheaded online reference as a publishing director at Routledge. My most recent projects were the Berg Encyclopedia of World Dress and Fashion, which won the 2011 Dartmouth Medal, and a Mellon-funded collaboration at the University of North Carolina (2008-2012), "Publishing the Long Civil Rights Movement," which produced an interactive online collection and some e-books enhanced with multimedia archival materials and outbound links. Currently I manage an international organization, the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes, which is headquartered in the Franklin Humanities Institute, Duke University.
